How GutSupp works

Feed your good bacteria. Fuel your gut.

Think of your gut as a garden. GutSupp is like fertiliser for the good bacteria already growing there.

The GOS in GutSupp reaches the colon A GutSupp sachet leads into a simplified digestive tract. The prebiotic GOS fraction passes through the upper gut and small intestine to the colon, where gut bacteria can use it as food.

Feed

Feed your good bacteria

GutSupp’s prebiotic fibre reaches your large intestine, where it becomes food for bacteria already living there.

Gut bacteria turn prebiotic food into useful compounds GOS particles enter a community represented by two fixed bacterial cells. Fermentation products leave the community. Different members of the community contribute to the production of short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate.

Create

Turn fibre into useful compounds

As your gut bacteria use this fibre, they create compounds called short-chain fatty acids, including acetate and butyrate.

Butyrate fuels cells in the gut lining Particles representing butyrate move into five fixed colon lining cells and highlight their energy centres. The cells retain the same size and shape throughout. This shows a source of cellular fuel.

Nourish

Fuel your gut lining

Butyrate provides energy for the cells lining your colon. Feeding your bacteria helps fuel this lining, too.

The ingredient and the label

What’s inside GutSupp?

Get to know the prebiotic fibre in GutSupp, how it differs from live cultures, and the amounts used in research.

Start with the ingredient.

GutSupp contains Bimuno® Powder, including galacto-oligosaccharides, or GOS, derived from lactose (milk), and galactose (milk). GOS is a carbohydrate ingredient.

Read the full label
The ingredient list, serving directions and allergens should be checked together.
Contains milk-derived ingredients
GOS derived from lactose (milk), and galactose (milk). Check the current pack for the complete information.

A different type of ingredient.

Products marketed as probiotics contain live microorganisms. To make a useful comparison, look at the actual formulation and the evidence for that particular product.

Match the evidence
The particular strain, formulation, amount and study population matter.
Avoid category-wide conclusions
A study of one product cannot establish that every product in a category works in the same way.

Powder weight and GOS content are different measures.

A paper may report the weight of a commercial powder or the amount of GOS within it. Different preparations can have different compositions. We preserve the paper’s units instead of treating those figures as interchangeable.

Amount of preparation
The total weight of the commercial preparation tested in that paper.
GOS within that preparation
The GOS content established for that specific preparation. A matching powder weight does not establish matching composition.
See one clearly labelled paper example

Parker 2026 studied 3.65 g of preparation providing 2.75 g of active GOS.

Useful questions

A few useful answers.

More on the prebiotic fibre in GutSupp and the research behind it.

hello@gutsupp.com
Are the laboratory studies tests in people?

No. The laboratory models use donor samples in controlled experiments. They can help researchers investigate interactions and measurements, but they do not directly measure how a person feels after taking a product.

What makes GutSupp a prebiotic?

GutSupp contains Bimuno® GOS, a type of fibre used as food by selected gut bacteria.

Why do the papers use different amounts?

They investigate different research questions and can use different preparations. A powder’s total weight and its active GOS content are different measures. Follow the current pack directions rather than copying an amount from a paper.

Do all probiotics have the same evidence?

No. Evidence needs to match the particular strain, formulation, amount and population. A study of one product cannot establish that every product in a category works in the same way.

Where can I read the research?

The research library above links to the original papers, alongside the findings and key study details.
